On Tuesday, August 7th, Edmar Alves de Araujo, a 34 year-old Brazilian immigrant and a resident of Milford, MA was arrested after a routine traffic stop in Rhode Island and taken into ICE custody. His sister rushed to the police with Edmar’s medication and pleaded in vain, trying to convince authorities that Edmar needed to take his daily medication for epilepsy. Edmar was pronounced dead at 4:18pm, just a little over an hour after he was taken into ICE custody.
