Yesterday, ICE began raiding San Rafael, CA around 4am. Agents went to apartment buildings and knocked on doors, including those for which they had no warrant. Luckily, word spread fast and many people were smart enough to keep their doors shut. In all, 17 people were arrested.
On Thursday, 79 children at Bahia Vista elementary school failed to show up (about 10 times the normal amount); at San Pedro elementary, 65 were absent.
It is worth noting that Kathryn Gibney is the principal of San Pedro and incidentally was also one of the witness called on to testify on the impact of raids on children during a Congressional hearing earlier this week.
