Trump Administration Rolls Back DAPA Policy in Heartless Move
(WASHINGTON)— Kica Matos, spokesperson for the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM), issued the statement below after the Administration made an announcement about the DACA program:
“On the heels of the 5th anniversary of DACA, the Trump Administration announced what we already know: DACA recipients will continue to live their lives, contribute to their communities, go to school, work and take care of their families under their current DACA status. Simultaneously, the Administration revoked an Obama era policy memo that created the DAPA policy to keep parents with their children. The DAPA policy, originally created to protect the parents of U.S. citizen children, was held up in legal battles, preventing it from implementation and rescinding the memo was symbolic and cruel.
“Tearing families apart, uprooting their lives and stripping them from the communities they have built is not the way forward. It is not reflective of the values we profess as a country. Our fight continues and will not stop until every person can live their lives freely and outside of the shadows.”
