Rep. Solis leads fight to reduce naturalization fees

Economic class and financial means should never be a barrier to civic engagement. This was a founding principle of our country and it remains at the heart of our democracy today.

We applaud Rep. Solis and others who are leading the fight to reduce the intolerably high naturalization fees. Could you pay hundreds of dollars for the right to vote?

Yesterday, Rep. Solis and 40 other members of Congress sent a letter to President Bush urging him to reconsider the decision made by DHS to increase fees for naturalization, a proposed change that would be implemented by the end of next month.  Read the Announcement
