Community Organizations Across the Nation Celebrate Ruling
(WASHINGTON)—Today’s Supreme Court decision declaring the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) unconstitutional is a victory for marriage equality and the Center for Community Change hopes that the ruling will pave the way for all states to allow same sex marriages very soon.
“The ruling today is a victory for equal rights and the Center is thrilled to have worked with so many organizations over the years to end DOMA and gain equality for LGBT people,” said Deepak Bhargava, Executive Director of the Center for Community Change. “The ruling now allows binational LGBT couples to remain together and marry. We are thrilled that the ruling will keep so many binational families together.”
“The Center wishes to congratulate all the same sex couples who can now plan their weddings in earnest,” Bhargava added. “Today is a day for all of us to celebrate the power of love.”
