The Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) and Reform Immigration FOR America Release “Felipe’s Letter to His Sons” Video
(Washington) Today, The Fair Immigration Reform Movement and Reform Immigration FOR America released the video “Felipe’s Letter to His Sons”, to portray the deep pain and anguish of family separation that our families continue to suffer under the Obama administration. The video comes at a time when the Obama administration is terrorizing and ripping apart families by carrying out home raids of Central American mothers and children who are being targeted for deportation.
Felipe's story is just one of the many stories of family separation resulting from the deeply flawed immigration policies that are in place. The letter, which is read in the video by Congressman Luis Gutierrez, was written to his two sons after he was deported to Mexico in 2010.
“Through this video, we would like to convey to Americans our humanity and the many ways we contribute and are present in this country as workers, mothers, fathers, and families,” Said FIRM spokesperson Kica Matos. “We have a broken immigration system that is not representative of our nation’s deepest values and we will do everything in our power to get it fixed. We cannot and we will not remain silent when our families are living in fear of being separated and sent back to face possible harm, including death.”
This video which is being released through Reform Immigration FOR America (the social media arm of the movement) shows why President Obama, DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson and ICE Director Sarah Saldana must immediately put an end to the raids against our mothers, children, and families.
