May 1- Join the Wisconsin March!

Organizers announced plans Thursday for "A Day Without Latinos," a march and boycott on May 1 that last year drew thousands to the streets of Milwaukee to call for immigration reform.  The march will start at noon at Voces de la Frontera, 1027 S. 5th St., and proceed along W. National Ave. to downtown, said Christine Neumann-Ortiz, who organized last year's march and is executive director of Voces. The march will end at Veterans Park with a rally featuring Ricardo Chavez, brother of United Farm Workers founder Cesar Chavez, and Craig Oliver, state political action chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, she said.
