Game, Set, Match on DHS Funding
Republican Insanity Yields Zero Results, Illustrates Complete Dysfunction of Republican Party
WASHINGTON-Today the House voted to fund the Department of Homeland Security through the end of the fiscal year without the anti-immigrant provisions previously included by Republicans. This vote ends the useless DHS battle created by the GOP over the President’s immigration action announced November of last year. The Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) praised the vote as a win for immigrant families.
FIRM spokesperson Kica Matos called this a victory for the immigrant rights movement.
“The voices of immigrants won today,” said Matos. “Families won today and America is stronger,” Matos added. “Mixed-status families like Melany Chavez’s, a leader in her community whose parents are undocumented, have a better chance of staying together.”
“This vote highlights how the GOP’s dysfunction only serves to stifle our government and slow down progress. While today we celebrate this win, we will remember those who fought against our families in the future,” Matos said.
