Confrontation in House Looms Over Immigration Bill


With comprehensive immigration reform passed through the Senate, House Republicans are now to positioning to introduce their own legislation that contradicts some key elements of the Senate-passed immigration bill, regardless of Democratic pressure. According to Rep. Bob Goodlatte, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, instead of a “pathway to citizenship” for 11 million undocumented immigrants, the House Republicans may pursue a “pathway to legalization,” meaning that they could allow some undocumented immigrants a shot at a green card, but not full-fledged citizenship.
