Children's Hearing on Impact of Raids on Children and Families - THURSDAY!
Have you heard the news?
Families are coming to DC from Illinois, Massachusetts, California, Colorado and several other states to testify on capitol hill on the impact of immigration raids on children and families. Congress has refused our call for a hearing on the raids, and so we are bringing our voices onto the hill (Rayburn House Office Building room 2255) before a panel of national leaders for children's and human rights, including:
Marian Wright Edelman, Children's Defense Fund
Kim Gandy, National Organization of Women
Bob Edgar, National Council of Churches
Hilary Shelton, NAACP
Dr. Randy Capps, Urban Institute
Baby Tomasa, the child pictured above, and her family will also be speaking before the panel on Thursday).
This event will be coupled with a release of the testimony of all of the families and the statements of the panelists. We will not let our voices be silenced, and we shall not stay in the shadows.
Stay tuned as we will be releasing the several stories in advanc of the hearing tomorrow.
