A ten day, water-only fast, following thirty days of prayer and outreach in the community to pray for and educate about the situation of immigrants in our country today.

Fast begins at 12 noon this Saturday May 5 at the Spirit of the Lakes United Church of Christ (2930 13th Avenue South) in Minneapolis, ends Monday May 14. Fast organizers and church supporters plan to complement the fasters' prayers by hosting daily religious services and a wide array of educational and cultural activities throughout the ten days of the fast.
Monday thru Friday from 3:00-9:00 pm, Saturday from 12 noon-8:00pm 9-10 am Each day will begin with a morning prayer for the fasters 12-2:30 pm A group of ten fasters will visit the state Capitol and meet with key legislators for immigration reform and the Mn Dream Act 3-6 pm Educational and advocacy tents will be staffed at the church parking lot so people can learn more about immigrant issues 6-7 pm Bi-lingual mass open to the public 7-7:30 pm Educational and guest speakers will address the crowd 7:30-9 pm There will be cultural enrichment activities to close the night. Organizers say that the last day of the fast will be marked by a symbolic cross made by the "light of hope" candles and displayed at the state Capitol.
How can you participate?
FASTING Consider joining the fast, either the entire ten days or just a part of it. PRAYER Focus your prayers in these days on immigration reform. VOLUNTEER Help is needed in fundraising and other areas. CONTRIBUTE Please consider donating your time, treasure or talent to help this effort.
