Portland marches against hate – Learn how you can help victims of raids

Many of you have called or written to know how you can support the families affected by the ICE raids on Tuesday, and how we can organize to prevent raids in the future.  Many Portland area social service agencies, churches, and immigration lawyers have come together to coordinate a support network for family members of raid victims.  To see our statement against the raids, and the statements of several political, labor, and religious leaders, please visit www.causaoregon.org.

Below are several opportunities for you to support the impacted families and voice opposition to the raids:

1) Donate to a relief fund for families:

Make checks payable to “El Programa Hispano- Catholic Charities”  and in the memo line put “raid relief“.  Checks can be mailed to:  451 NW 1st St, Gresham, OR 97030

2) Write a letter to the editor

Anti-immigrant responses are flooding local papers in response to their coverage of the ICE raids. Stand up for the affected children and families today – talking points are attached.  You can submit your letter to:

Statesman Journal:  letters@statesmanjournal.com

Oregonian:  letters@news.oregonian.com

3) Attend the Vigil for Human Rights in Tacoma this Saturday:

Announcement below; Carpools from Portland leave @ 10am
– Liberty Hall (311 N. Ivy St. Portland, OR)
– Ascension Catholic Church (7507 SE Yamhill St Portland, OR)
