In recent weeks, the White House and Democratic and Republican Senators have been engaged in backroom bargaining over immigration reform. Unfortunately, the dealmaking has gone in the wrong direction, and they are on the verge of making a deal that will tear immigrant families apart, undermine basic rights, and divide America by establishing a guestworker program that creates a permanent underclass of disposable, temporary workers with few rights. We say,
NO Family, NO Deal! Guestworker, NO Deal!
We will hold every lawmaker accountable for his or her actions. Any deal that includes guestworkers and cuts in family immigration is a profound betrayal of the family values and basic fairness that all Americans cherish. We will aggressively oppose any such deal and fight for a solution that is pro-family, pro-worker, and pro-America. We urge our Senators Clinton and Schumer to join us.
