“Help Create the Next Generation of Immigrant Voters!
Thanks to the help of the MD/DC/VA chapter of AILA, the National Capital Immigration Coalition is going to sponsor naturalization clinics on Saturday, April 28, from 10 to 2. These clinics will provide information on how to naturalize, will assist people in filling out the forms, and provide follow-up resources.
The NCIC is hosting these clinics in coordination with naturalization clinics nationwide.
There are 99,000 permanent residents each in Maryland and Virginia that could be eligible to vote by the 2008 elections. We need your help to make it happen.
If you would like to volunteer for the clinic, we would love your help.
Volunteers must attend a volunteer training the same day at 9:00 am in the same location. If you are able to volunteer, please email me at <mailto:email@example.com> firstname.lastname@example.org or Alicia Ruiz for Virginia at email@example.com .
You don’t need to be an immigration expert to volunteer.
AILA is providing the legal back-up to review the forms.
All you need is patience and a shared commitment to advancing immigrant justice!
The two locations for the clinics are:
Iglesia Restaracion Elim
8725 Flower Ave
Silver Spring, MD 20901
Tenants and Workers United
3801 Mt. Vernon Avenue
Alexandria, VA 22305
On the other hand, if you are a legal expert and can support the effort with back-up, email AILA chapter Pro-bono co-coordinator Cheryl Geiser-Young at firstname.lastname@example.org.
