(WASHINGTON)–The following statement is from Kica Matos, spokesperson for the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) in response to the expulsion of Jorge Ramos at a Trump’s press conference in Iowa.
“The expulsion of Jorge Ramos from Trump’s press conference in Iowa was yet another stunning display of Mr. Trump’s feelings towards immigrants and Latinos, which can be summarized in three words: hatred, racism and disrespect. It shows how far this Republican candidate and his campaign will go to appeal to extremists to win the Republican nomination. Mr. Trump should heed the following warning: Our Latino and immigrant communities are not going to forget the way he has treated them. The polls are already beginning to show just how unpopular he is with the fastest growing demographic in the country. If he doesn’t already know, we remind him and other presidential hopefuls that stand with him on immigration that no candidate can win the White House without the immigrant and Latino vote.
“Last night’s action on one of Spanish television’s most respected journalists has ignited yet another call to millions of Latino voters to show up at the polls in November.”
