Special thanks to Marisol Ramos of Suenos del Barrio, a part of the New York State Youth Leadership Council, for sending me this flier and info on their new short documentary Barrio Dreams. The film focuses on the lives of three Mexican Immigrant Youth in NYC and their organizing efforts for DREAM.

You should definitely check out this doc. For more information on the project and for photos from the screening premiere go HERE

The DREAM Act is a crucial piece of legislation for the US, and I’m always inspired by the stories of organizers in this fight. In my own neihgborhood I knew many DREAM students who are still waiting for their opportunity to participate fully in our educational system. It’s about time that EVERYONE join the call: Education, not Deportation.

If you’re organizing in your own area for DREAM, please send us info on your campaign- we all know how important it is to lift up our own voices for change.
