The day is almost here. Next week, Barack Obama will be sworn in as President of the United States. A New Day for America is dawning. And we are confident that this new day also marks a renewed hope for Just and Humane Immigration Reform.
FIRM and our partners, the National Capital Immigrant Coalition, will be hosting a Day of Action for immigrants’ rights on the first day of the new administration. Community leaders, immigrants, advocates, citizens and faith leaders from across the country will gather in Washington, DC on January 21st to celebrate a New Day for Immigration in America and lay to rest 8 years of enforcement-only policies.
For more information on the event, please visit www.ANewDayforImmigration.org. Also, be sure to check out the list of local events happening around the country.
Also, I will be posting live feeds of the events on January 21st here at StandingFIRM, so be sure to check back for pictures, stories and reports from the ground.
Now is our time. It is a New Day for Immigration in this country and we must work to win the change we need. Just and Humane Immigration Reform is within our reach. Can we count on you to stand up for immigrants’ rights?
