Most of you know by now that Elvira Arellano, a leading activist for immigrant rights has been detained by ICE on a visit to several churches in the LA area. To learn more check out more of the story.
We stand strong with Elvira, a mother, immigrant, and outspoken activist for the rights of all. And groups across the country are acting in solidarity to denounce her deportation and the destruction of her family. There will be an action in LA on Saturday- for more information visit CHIRLA.

Elvira Arellano was arrested and deported by ICE officials yesterday as she left Our Lady of Queen of Angeles, “La Placita”, Catholic Church in downtown Los Angeles. A leader in the immigrant rights movement, Elvira had been living in sanctuary in her church, Adalberto United Methodist Church, in Chicago for the past year. Her ten year old, Saul, has been separated from his mother and is under the care of the pastor of Adalberto UMC.
Please join us tomorrow for an interfaith prayer vigil to stand in solidarity with the millions of immigrants whose families are being ripped apart by the ICE raids and deportations.
