Deportation is hurting children in immigrant families. A new report demonstrates the many negative public health outcomes related to our current broken immigration system, exposing issues of children’s mental and physical health that have been largely neglected. Clear evidence in this report shows that the threat of deportation causes long-term stress in children and often leads to poorer performance in school. The long-term stress can cause problems with cardiovascular health, further leading to anxiety and depression.
